The Garden is GROWING!!
7/18/2010 9:00pm by Tim Shultz
Things have cooled down here on the Ranch. We got tonnes done on Saturday, and feel much better! We hate taking a market off but sometimes you just need a breather to get caught up!
Things are really progressing in the gardens. Here is an update of what is new this week:
We have lots and lots of peas!! Snow peas and Snap peas.
Our micro mix is back, to start it is a blend of purple and green radish, some cress leaves and pea shoots.
Swiss Chard and Beet green mix (great for cooking)
- Here is how we prepare this:
-sauté mushrooms and onions and a bit of garlic
- on low heat add swiss chard and beet greens (dandelion greens are a great additive too!)
- cover with a lid and cook until greens are softened (mixing occasionally)
- ENJOY
Fresh Mint
Butterhead lettuce ( we harvest this with the root intact so it will maintain its freshness!)
Old crop certified organic red potatoes (I just made my first order from Living Soils certified organic farm - Saskatoon - and have a nice supply of last years red potatoes. These have been stored right and are very nice still. They should tide you over until the new potatoes come on!!)
If you can't wait until the Farmers market on Saturday you are welcome to place an order online and pick it up on Tuesday evening from 7:00-7:30 at the Sask Power parking lot just North of the Science Center. In Weyburn you can find us on Monday evening from 7:00 - 7:30 at the Hospital parking lot.
Here is the link to order online: click here
We have a great supply of Free Range eggs now, the price is $3.25/doz and you can order online to pickup on Tuesday evenings all through the summer! Contact us if you would like to get on our list of regular weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly egg orders. You can also order them online when ever you need!
Hope everyone is having a great summer!
